Hi all,

I need help in editing KB articles in DEV instance however, the KB articles does not have any checkout button. Also I checked the state and it is in PUBLISHED (IN PROGRESS) State. How can I edit these KB Articles?

Hey Byron, are you an admin, or do you have admin rights?   Cause if you can't see the checkout button, odds are you may not have admin rights, and may not be able to assign the article to a KB?

Hi @LCoughlin I have admin access in DEV.

Hey Byron,

I find it very suspicious that all the fields are grey (which usually indicates a permission challenge).  If they were imported from another instance, it is possible that it was in a draft state at the time of import. That is the only other culprit I can think of. I"m guessing that you have many other articles imported the same way that you CAN see the Checkout button for. The next option I would recommend trying on the article that is missing the Checkout, is try right-clicking the article Title bar (grey area), and see if you can do an 'Insert and Stay'. This will create a new article with the same contents. Yes, you'll get a new KB#, but might let you modify it from there, and you can Retire the original that won't let you edit it. Just remember to assign your new one to a KB.

Let me know if that helps.

Hi @LCoughlin is there no other way I can edit those articles without changing the KB#?

Hello Byron,

My apologies for the delay, had a busy day yesterday. Can you walk me through how you got the article from the old instance to the one you're working in now? How did you do that (what method did you use)?  Trying to reproduce the issue so I can see if I can find a way to correct it. I see that in your image it skipped draft and review, and I also know that if you use the import option, you're forced to select a KB, so why it doesn't have one is interesting.  Please share when you get a moment. Thank you.
