🤖 Modernize Conflict of Interest Disclosures with Conversational Intake and Risk Assessment in Legal Service Delivery

Managing conflicts of interest (COI) is a critical responsibility for legal and compliance teams, but traditional disclosure processes often rely on structured forms and manual review. These approaches can create friction for employees and slow down legal teams that need to quickly identify and prioritize higher-risk disclosures.

📘 What’s New in Legal Conflict of Interest (March 2026 Release)

The March 2026 Legal Service Delivery release enhances Legal Conflict of Interest with capabilities designed to reduce manual effort and improve decision-making—without changing the underlying governance model.

  • Natural-language conflict disclosures using Now Assist in Virtual Agent
  • An automated risk assessment utility that evaluates each disclosure and assigns a risk level

Together, these capabilities simplify the employee experience while helping legal teams focus attention where it matters most.

💬 Conversational Intake for Conflict of Interest Disclosures

What It Is

Conversational intake allows employees to disclose conflicts of interest using natural language rather than completing a traditional intake form. The experience is delivered through Now Assist in Virtual Agent and Legal Service Delivery. Employees simply describe their situation in their own words, and the system captures the necessary details behind the scenes.

Why It Matters

  • Lower friction for employees—no need to locate or interpret complex forms
  • Improved disclosure quality through free-text context
  • Earlier disclosures driven by a simpler experience

How It Works

  • An employee initiates a conflict disclosure through Virtual Agent
  • Now Assist guides the conversation and gathers relevant information
  • The interaction is automatically converted into a Conflict of Interest request in Legal Service Delivery

🧠 Automated Risk Assessment for Conflict of Interest Disclosures

What It Is

The risk assessment utility automatically evaluates each conflict disclosure submitted through Legal Service Delivery. Based on predefined criteria, the system generates:

  • A risk score
  • A risk level (Low, Medium, or High)

This risk level is used to drive downstream routing and prioritization.

How Risk Is Evaluated

Legal teams can configure how disclosures are evaluated using multiple approaches, including:

  • Condition-based evaluations
  • Subflow-based evaluations
  • AI skill–based evaluations (with Now Assist for Legal Service Delivery)

🔁 How Conversational Intake and Risk Assessment Work Together

Conversational intake and risk assessment are designed to operate as a single, cohesive flow:

  • Natural-language disclosures captured via Virtual Agent feed directly into the risk assessment utility
  • Each disclosure is automatically evaluated and assigned a risk level
  • Higher-risk disclosures are routed and prioritized appropriately, while lower-risk disclosures can move through faster paths

This combination enables faster resolution without sacrificing oversight.

🎯 Why These Capabilities Matter for Legal and Compliance Teams

Together, conversational intake and automated risk assessment deliver meaningful outcomes:

  • Faster intake with reduced manual effort
  • More consistent and defensible risk decisions
  • Better prioritization of legal review capacity
  • Improved employee experience with built-in controls

Legal teams spend less time triaging disclosures and more time addressing situations that present real risk.

🛠 Configuration Considerations

To use these capabilities effectively, organizations should consider:

  • Now Assist is required for conversational intake
  • Risk assessment logic must be configured to align with internal COI policies
  • AI skill–based evaluations require additional entitlement and setup

🚀 Getting Started with Conversational COI and Risk Assessment

Conversational intake and automated risk assessment are available as part of the March 2026 Legal Service Delivery release. Organizations looking to modernize ethics and compliance processes can get started by taking the following steps:

  1. Start by reviewing the Legal Conflict of Interest product documentation to understand how conversational disclosures and risk assessment fit into the broader Legal Service Delivery framework, including prerequisites and configuration considerations.
  2. Enable conversational intake with Now Assist
Ensure Now Assist for Legal Service Delivery is available and enabled so employees can disclose conflicts using natural language through Virtual Agent rather than traditional intake forms.
  3. Configure risk assessment to align with COI policy
Define the risk evaluation logic that determines how disclosures are scored and categorized, ensuring risk levels reflect your organization’s conflict of interest policies and review thresholds.

Together, these steps help organizations introduce conversational conflict disclosures and risk‑based prioritization while preserving existing governance and approval controls.
