PDIs down?

I see the PDIs down with a banner saying that there is an issue being worked on.

Do we have an idea of when the situation will change?

Hi @RajagopalanS

Currently, ServiceNow is aware that some Personal Developer Instances (PDIs) are experiencing outages or are offline, and their team is actively working on resolving the issue. Unfortunately, there is no official exact timeline for when all PDIs will be fully restored, as these outages can sometimes last from a few hours up to several days.

Here are some important points and recommendations:

  • Patience is key: PDIs have been known to be unavailable for up to 5 days during such incidents. Many users have reported their instances coming back online after waiting several hours or days.

  • No official support or guaranteed recovery: ServiceNow does not provide direct support for PDIs, nor do they guarantee backups or recovery of your instance data. PDIs are intended for development and testing, not production use.

  • Backup your data regularly: To avoid loss, it is recommended to frequently back up your work using Update Sets, export files, or external repositories. This is especially important since PDIs can become inaccessible without warning.

  • Options if your PDI remains offline:

    • You can try to refresh, wipe/reset, or release your instance and request a new one. However, releasing your instance means losing all data on it.

    • If you cannot afford to lose your data, waiting for the instance to come back online is usually the safest option.

    • Currently, some users report that even requesting a new PDI may be temporarily unavailable due to the scale of the issue.

  • Keep an eye on official channels: Check the developer site and community forums for updates from ServiceNow about the status of PDIs and any announcements regarding resolution timelines.

In summary, while the ServiceNow team is working on fixing the PDI outages, there is no precise ETA for resolution. The best approach is to wait patiently, keep backups of your work outside the PDI, and be prepared to release and request a new instance if you can afford to lose the current one. For critical work, consider using other environments or request support through official channels if available.
