On a note related to audit / assurance costs, ISACA is now making full audit templates in word.doc format available to its members for free.   The comprehensive content can allow process owners and managers access to the same approach advocated for use by CISA qualified auditors.    

To date, only the governance domain in the process reference model has been released.   Go to ISACA.ORG - search on audit/assurance programs.   The Process Assessment Model and Self-Assessment books are already out In ISACAs bookstore.

This could signal an interesting industry development potentially positioning IT Audit to become a positive disruptive force with significant impact on expectations for process people.

An obvious next step is to load the audit content into ServiceNow.   Think assigning tasks to stakeholders to respond to inquiries.   Audit results on a Homepage.   All scoping - assessment - communication within a single system of engagement.   ISACAAudit Plugin? This can happen now.   ISACA is offering ServiceNow a license for COBIT 5 for $50,000. for unlimited commercial reuse.   Individual can use the content for free with an ISACA membership.

As for silos, the emerging direction is clear.   Functional specialties will continue to use specific approaches but they will work together in harmony supported by an overarching umbrella.   A single integrated business framework, covering the enterprise end to end, and enabling a holistic approach.     Easy.   COBIT5 Plugin? Could Luddy and Slootman and SN sales close more deals offering the automation of additional good practices and professional association IP?   The current model was born from ITIL / ITSM.   PM, SDLC, KT are adds.     Trend is clear.   Opportunity and direction obvious.   Standardize process and integrate data.   Penetrate the enterprise. Sell more seats.

Brainstorms: provide automated support for Six Sigma Greenbelt projects.   All DMAIC in one system.     Support improvements in every process.   Want to get deeper in HR? Skills for the Information Age (SFIA).   License and data load is easy.       DEVOPS - license and load the guidance.   Marketing plan and legal templates?   ISOs? XYZ same.   Think accelerators or Plugins.
