Requirement:
When an incident is updated (for example, work notes change), the caller or the assigned user should get an in-app notification in the bell icon in the ServiceNow banner, with no email sent.
- Navigate to All > System Notification > Provider > Notifications and click New.
- Fill in the form:
- Name: for example, Incident update notification
- Table: Incident
- Trigger: Record Change, with Updated or Inserted
- Conditions: Active is true AND Work notes changes
- Who will receive: under Recipients listed in fields, select Caller (and Assigned to if needed)
- Save the record.
- Open the Contents related list tab and click New Provider Content.
- Select Next Experience as the content provider.
- Fill in the content form:
- Name: Incident record update content
- Notification: the notification created above
- Active: true
- Table: Incident
- Message Heading: ${number} changed
- Message: Short description: ${short_description
- Click Submit.
- Make sure the recipient’s preferences allow it. Under User Menu > Preferences > Notifications, Allow Notifications should be on, and the Next Experience tab options (Show banners, Show badge count) should be enabled.
