I created some visio shapes to help create a mockup of what the form will look like (not the ESS view) so we can provide a visual and get signoff from the service owner prior to development. We found that this helps to nail down the exact requirements and also reduce the rework when creating catalog items (rather than having a developer change/rework after a service owner see the initial form).
Has anyone else run into this issue? Rework because the form/workflow isn't mature or doesn't exist yet so the service owner has lots of changes while in development? If so, how do you handle it and what has helped?
This is what it looks like, I can't attach the visio shapes since .vss file isn't allowed but if you want it, message me thru the community.

karenlamanoDo you have any updated stencils?
The old ones are available here: https://servicenow-my.sharepoint.com/personal/jeremy_smith_servicenow_com/_layouts/15/guestaccess.as...

Sorry I don't have any updates. Once 'item designer' or form designer functionality was provided by ServiceNow, we began using that. Our business analysts do a mockup in our sandbox environment and use that if the internal customer / stakeholder wants to see the form layout. Now, most of the new catalog items are similar to an existing one so we usually steer them towards that and just develop and conduct a demonstration.
If you don't have additional environments for this type of work, you can leverage a developer instance as well. Those didn't exist when I created the visio stencils.

I built an Order Guide template in Adobe XD and it has made the mockup process incredibly easy. Like Adobe Fireworks you can prototype your mockup to show how clicking one button might take you to "page b" and another might take you to "page c" but with practically no learning curve! Drawing tools in XD are very basic with only a square, circle, line, and pen but possibilities are extensive. The attached image is a mockup made with XD and everything is 100% editable. I took a screenshot of our actual environment and imported it into XD where it automatically made the background transparent then I just used it as a template until I recreated all elements on the page. The whole process from scratch, never using XD before, took a couple hours. Now I can mock a template in real-time during future state mapping just using one template. Figma is a web-based tool that essentially works the same as XD if you are interested in another option. I hope you all find this as useful as I do.

Thats really cool. I was learning XD and thought of the possibilities to do BA Design Docs with it. Do you know if there is a repository somewhere of ServiceNow Stock interface images to draw from?
