Hi Folks,

I am use MCP Server from ServiceNow Out of box and inside it I use REST API tools then will I still be charged Now Assist tokens for this setup?

My understanding is that it shouldn't be charged.

It does consume tokens. One token for one MCP Server call

Hi @Khanna Ji

For Token Cost, License cost  related query , please reach out to your Servicenow Account executive. He will clarify whether charges will applied or not.

As per my idea:

1. If your setup uses a ServiceNow AI Agent or Now Assist via the MCP client framework to fetch data using those REST tools , It will be charged

Assist & Token - How Assist and tokens define your Now Assist licensing

2. If your setup involves an external LLM client (by Claude, OpenAI, or Microsoft Copilot Studio) connecting directly to your MCP Server, most probably-  no charges apply

Hi Tanushree - By what logic do you think now assist tokens will be burned when we are using MCP server and rest APIs? There are no AI tools used in this so why tokens will be burned?

I can definately contact the account team but its a purely technical discussion. If you do not know the answer then do not engage. Everybody knows for any license related questions we need to go to account manager but here I am collecting real time user experiences who had already implemented this and can share their feedback.
