How to create a bar report for monthly results?

I would like to have a report that shows count of tasks month by month.  What I have so far works to some degree but it gives data we don't want. It shows weekly data and I can't seem to keep it away.

We would also like to have each column have a different color.

I'm working on using multiple dataset to see if that will be a workaround but I should be able to report monthly.

I beleive you need to remove the grouping  by created. When you make a trend chart it will already group them by month.

I assume the grouping by month is being 'split' into weeks for the current month?

If, as test, you filter out tasks = this month?

Just created a time series report to shown data by created/opened etc. by month.:

Please note, that it's not possible to get each month in different color.
