MID Server Specifications

We are looking for anyone with a MID Server to give some base configuration sizing for Windows Server - everything is so open ended with sizing in documentation we would like to hear what others have done. Business size is Medium/Small in most comparisons.

Thank You

Hi Judy,

It's going to depend on what the MID server is going to be used for.

For example, to do discovery. In this case, would require information on how number resources will be scanned.

Beside discovery, MID server can be used to connect with internal services. In this case, which services to be connect to and estimate on how much data will be passed between ServiceNow and the internal services. It is recommended to separate MID server used for discovery and orchestration.

That said, following blog has some recommendation for a basic configuration.

As you mentioned this is pretty open ended and your company policies on server sizing will also come into play.

Checking the specs of one of our oldest (and most used) MID Servers provides these details:

  • HDD size = 80GB
  • CPU = 2.20GHz (x2)
  • RAM = 16GB
  • OS = Windows Server 2012 R2 (x64)

Beyond that we upped the Java Heap Size to 4096 in the wrapper-override.conf file
