Dashboard - comments/user interaction on dashboard

Hello,

I often meet with requirement if it is possible to comment or put some journal field on a dashboard so users who have access to a dashboard can easily comment/interact (like in PowerBI for example). Editable free text area directly on dashboard would be fine.

Firstly, I found in Gadgets > Sticky notes however it does not work on dashboards and workaround is not user-friendly. Also putting content blocks is not a user-friendly approach because it is not editable directly from dashboard. 

PA in analytics hub provides comments but it would be nice to interact from dashboard without diving into AH.

Do you have any easy, simple solution?

Hello,

So depending on what type of widget you have on the dashboard, you can show the comments that are put on certain Indicators in the Analytics Hub, for an example:

Notice on this widget that I have on my dashboard, that has some comments on it:

When you hover over the comment box, you are able to see the comment:

You will want to make sure that you have Show Comments checked at the Widget level.

This comment was added to the Indicator at the Analytics Hub level:

This does not work with every type of Widget, which may make it not work for what you are wanting to do.

However, if it is the same Indicator, but it is visualized with different Widget types, when someone clicked into the Widget and went to the Analytics Hub, they would see the comments that were added.

Hi Thomas,

thanks for detailed answer. Analytics hub is a great tool but for some use-cases it would be fair enough to have a simple notes area on a dashboard where end-users could leave some notes without going into AH.

We interested in reporting on comments we enter into PA>Analytics Hub.   

Can we do this?   

How? 

Table name? 

Field name?
