Display Parent and associated Child incidents in report.

I have been tasked to create a report for a manager to show the day Major incidents of the day and in the same view the associated Child Incident Tickets.

Parent

                          --- Child

                          --- Child

                          --- Child

Parent

                          --- Child

                            etc...

I am hoping to get this in one view without requiring to drill down.   I have a Parent incident with 14 child incidents in our system but I'm unable to see how to get the Child incidents to list while grouped by the parent incident   - is there a way?

Is this possible with filters alone?

Any assistance would but great.

Further to this these Child Tickets have a Parent Incident entry that I can filter on but the fact they are linked to a managed Major Incident is not inherited.

So I can obviously can get a list of the Parent Major Incidents   and see that there are for example 14 Child Incidents but I am unable to see how to use the Parent reference to list the children in one report in a dynamic way.

Not

Todays Major incidents                     Parent Ref#####

                                                                                              Parent Ref#####

But

Todays Major Incidents                   Child Ref#####

                                                                                            Child Ref#####

I hope this makes what I'm looking to do clearer

Have you tried a list report where you are on incident table, and group by the parent field where parent.task_type = major incident?

Similar to what Darius said - do a report on the Incident table, where Parent is not empty, and Parent.Task_type = Incident.   Then just group by Parent.   The only downside is that the parent record itself won't have its data shown, only the children's data.   But the parent data would be just a click away.

I have been able to using the Show Related fields have been able to use the .Parent Incident MIM flag field in our system.

To list the child tickets and grouped the tickets by Parent Incident.

Thank you Darius for your suggestion that assisted me looking to the parent fields to get this to work
