Hello,
I need some assistance. I need to create a report to calculate uptime minutes and percent uptime for one or more applications. I can determine the downtime minutes by measuring the time from the incident's actual start to its actual end.
My goal is to subtract the total downtime minutes from the total number of minutes in each month. Although I've been advised that this might not be technically feasible, it seems like a straightforward calculation.
Is there a way to create a custom field or formula in a report that calculates the total number of minutes in a specific month?
For example:
- February has 40,320 minutes (41,760 minutes in a leap year).
- If my application had 120 minutes of downtime in the month (2 hours), my uptime minutes would be 40,200.
- This would result in an uptime of 99.7%. (uptime minutes / total minutes in month * 100)
Can anyone provide information on how to achieve this so I can share it with our report developers?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Yes, you can create a custom formula in your report to calculate uptime minutes and uptime percentage. First, calculate the total minutes in the month (e.g., February has 40,320 minutes in a non-leap year). Then, subtract the downtime minutes from the total minutes to get the uptime minutes. Finally, use the formula: Uptime Percentage = (Uptime Minutes / Total Minutes) * 100. For example, with 120 minutes of downtime in February, the uptime percentage would be 99.7%. When it comes to SNO Reporting for uptime minutes and uptime percentage, accuracy is crucial for performance monitoring and ensuring compliance with service level agreements. To calculate uptime minutes, you can subtract the total downtime minutes from the total number of minutes in a month. For instance, if February has 40,320 minutes and there were 120 minutes of downtime, the uptime minutes would be 40,200, resulting in an uptime percentage of 99.7% [(Uptime Minutes / Total Minutes) * 100]. This approach helps in identifying trends and anomalies, which should be promptly addressed to maintain high reliability and meet SLA standards.
