Some migration questions

  • In the Migration Center, we clicked Start Moving and are reviewing migrated content. If we update reports, will we be able to re-trigger the migration? same question if dashboards are updated.  That is, after an update to a report or a dashboard, will the Migrate Again option be available in the Migration Center?
  • Once the Activate button is clicked in the Migration Center, what happens to the Core UI content? Will reports be available and viewable under Reports --> View/Run?  Will dashboards be available and viewable under Dashboards? The intention is not to modify the Core UI versions but to use that in case we need to check something in the migrated version with the pre-migrated version.
  • It looks like reports in the migrated dashboard do not always appear in the same order as in the Core UI version. Is there a way to insure that the reports appear in the defined order on the migrated dashboard?
  • It looks like in the List report we are losing the top summary line which indicated the total number of records in the report.  This was helpful if the report used group by. Is there any way to get that summary line for the list in Platform Analytics?

Thank you!

If you do the full migration, everything will be migrated. You can still open the old content, but it is already migrated, so changing it on the data visualization would be better. There is no 'migrate again' option. The new content is already available. With dashboards it's better to use the single dashboard migration if you don't trust the migration.

Old content will remain available, but is inactive. The menus will be removed.

It should be a one on one migration.

You can edit the list reports to show what you need. Showing the total number is an option.

Thank you.  For lists, I don't see a way to show the total number of records when using a group by; it only shows the total number of groups at the bottom of the list. The Core UI version showed the total number of records at the top of the list.

If you complete migration, the "old" content will still be available, dashboards will be deactivated but still reachable, reports will be exactly the same. You can always migrate them again.

I don't think I encountered an issue where reports had a different layout on the migrated dashboard as on the original. Make sure the Platform Analytics plugin and the Migration Center plugin are up-to-date.

You can customize the lists in Platform Analytics to make them all that they were and better, actually.

Thank you! The Platform Analytics and Migration Center plugins are up to date.

I am seeing some issues with migrated heat maps and pivot tables. We have heat maps that have max number of groups set to Default with show Other checked. This option does not seem to be available in the migrated version; the migrated version of such a heat map only shows x number of groups without Other. If I recreate the heat map in Platform Analytics it will show all groups.  Sometimes the drilldowns don't function correctly with pivot tables in the migrated reports. Sorting is off in heat maps and pivot tables if it is not explicitly configured on the Core UI report; default sort order appears to be different between Core UI and Platform Analytics.

Regarding Lists, how do you display the total number of records in the list when using group by? Where is the option that enables this?  The Core UI version showed that total number of records in the list at the top of the list. The migrated version does not show this. When using group by, it only shows the total number of groups at the bottom of the list.
