Does cloning change the database engine from MariaDB to RaptorDB?

Hi Community,

I have a question regarding database migration and cloning in ServiceNow.

Suppose a source instance has already been migrated by ServiceNow from MariaDB to RaptorDB, while the target instance is still running on MariaDB.

If we perform a clone from the RaptorDB source instance to the MariaDB target instance:

  • Will the target instance’s database engine also change to RaptorDB as part of the clone?
  • Or does the target instance remain on MariaDB, with only data and configuration being copied?

Additionally,
Is there any customer‑controlled way to migrate an instance from MariaDB to RaptorDB, or is this migration strictly managed and performed only by ServiceNow?

Looking forward to confirmation from anyone who has experience with RaptorDB migrations.

Thanks!
