Changing of Software Model Display Name in SAM Pro

Wanted to change the display name of Software Model name to make it user friendly and make it available in Software Catalogue.  Default name is Publisher+ Product+ Edition+ Version. And, planning to customize it to Publisher+ Product Only. Can't use the OOB option - "Publish to Software Catalogue option in Software Model".

 

Before implementing this, wanted to make sure that will there be any impact in Reconciliations, Reclamations or any other SAM Pro table or will it affect any features of SAM Pro?
Wanted to collate all such possible use cases to decide should we implement this?

 

Please provide your suggestions?

my suggestion is not to do it, as you’ll loose a lot of details and transparency for the SAM team and activities in the workspace. Recon results will look similar when all models having the same name. I also didn’t get the use case and benefit, sorry.

 

why you didn’t rename the catalog item after you’ve published it? Or create a new one and link the software model based on the existing model fields. From my point of views, the publish to catalog is a „useless feature“ as you bypass all standard processes by the catalog management/ITSM when publishing out of SAM.
