Data quality for SAMP - SN agent or Intune, input needed

I am hoping the forum can provide some input to help me put together an argument for the SN agent to be deployed rather than relying on Intune.

We are slowly migrating from SCCM to Intune and so we get the data gaps that Intune brings along. We are starting a campain to use the SN agent rather than configure something else to return usage data.

1) What are the benefits that using the SN agent brings, apart from metering?  Are there any downsides to using the agent?

2) My line manager sent out the link below.  Is it another type of endpoint agent or is it THE agent for gathering SAM data? Please advise.

Hi @andynewey ,

she shared link is about the ACC-V with SAM capabilities, like software discovery, metering etc.

As you already said, the feature list for intune as a full replacement for SCCM is limited and I still try to understand the why by Microsoft 🤨🤷🏼‍♂️

However, the SAM specific benefits you already mentioned and I would like to add th general ACC framework capabilities to run also the ITOM Discovery probes/pattern and providing an framework to build own pattern to detect and process data in alignment with the ServiceNow data model.

In combination with DEX (extra module) you’ll also get insight into SaaS usage based on browser addon etc, if needed.

Hope this helps and looking forward to additional pro/cons from the community.

Best, Dennis

Hi @andynewey,

The metering together with the reclamation workflow should already build a strong business case, which will avoid additional spending for software or help right-sizing during the next negotiation with the respective vendor.

A downside might be that you have to manage an additional software deployment, operate a bunch of mid-servers depending on the number of EUC devices. From a security standpoint, you will introduce additional risk.

Hope this helps!
