We are currently running ACC agents as Local Service accounts. Recently, we had a requirement to populate the Java Audit data collected through ServiceNow Discovery. This required executing a Discovery pattern; however, the pattern did not run successfully while the ACC agent was operating under the Local Service account. Once the agent was granted local administrator permissions, the pattern executed successfully and the required data was populated.
As part of discussions with our security team, I am trying to build a comprehensive understanding of which ServiceNow SAM Pro publisher packs rely on Discovery patterns to improve data quality and enhance Effective License Position (ELP) calculations.
For example, I am aware that:
- Oracle licensing relies on additional Discovery-collected data such as GLAS-related information.
- Microsoft SQL Server often requires Discovery-derived data to accurately identify editions and licensing metrics.
Is there an official list, documentation page, or table that maps publisher packs to the Discovery patterns they depend on? Specifically, I am looking for a way to identify which of the major SAM Pro publisher packs require Discovery pattern execution for accurate reconciliation, compliance calculations, or ELP generation. Any guidance or references would be greatly appreciated.
