Software Inference Suite on SW Installations

Hello,

after doing a lot of tests, I cannot determine the reason of what seems a strange behavior, It's not clear If i'm doing mistakes in the configuration of Suites or there are some issues in the SAM OOTB Process. I explain what I mean:

I simply need to cover some SW Installations with the License of a Suite Parent, I've put on the  Software Model "Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3"  , the SW Model ""Microsoft HEVC Video Extension" as a Suite Child with Inference Number = 1, meaning that at least 1 SW Installation is needed to use the License of the Suite Parent but , that's the strange behavior: on the SW Installation records only for a minimal part of them the Inferred Suite is calculated ( with Inference Level '999' ) , for the rest nothing is calculated and that's happen for all SW Installations of all SW Models with a Parent Suite, despite there are rights available on the Suite Parent.

Can someone help me to understand the reason of this behavior? This has an high impact because for SW that have SW Installations I cannot infer the Suite and thus use the License of Suite Parent. to cover the SW Installation.

Thanks

Antonio

Ahh ok, that all looks good.

Finally, do you actually have an entitlement set at the suite level that has been 'Published'.

Suites without a Published Entitlement are not considered by the Inference engine.

I add that the License Metric on Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3 entitlement is "User Subscription" , I know that in this case SAM compares the Software Subscriptions in the samp_sw_subscription table with the rights on the entitlement but if I have some installation I suppose I need to consider also them, that is check if the Assigned To of the SW Installation has a Subscription and if there are enough rights on the entitlement saying if the SW Installation is licensed or not.

I add also that the License Metric on Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3 entitlement is "User Subscription" , I know that in this case SAM compares the Software Subscriptions in the samp_sw_subscription table with the rights on the entitlement but if I have some installation I suppose I need to consider also them, that is check if the Assigned To of the SW Installation has a Subscription and if there are enough rights on the entitlement saying if the SW Installation is licensed or not.

Is there anyone can give me some advice? I think this is a very common and basic scenario for a tool as SAM, I have a Software Entitlement with "User Subscription" Metric , example "Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3" and if I find, for example, a SW Installation of "Microsoft Word" I need to use the license of the "Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3" Suite Parent but I made many tests and I found that:

  • If the License Metric on the Software Entitlement "Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3" is User Subscription it doesn't work, the inferred suite is not calculated on the SW Installations
  • If the License Metric on the Software Entitlement "Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3" is Per User it works, the inferred suite is calculated on the SW Installations

Thanks
