Software model not allocated despite identical discovery model

Hi all I am scratching my head on this one.  The software install list for a specific version of Anaconda is showing some installations being allocated a software model and others not beiong allocated a software model despite being identical installations.  See pic

The field Software model result is populated after Software Reconciliation runs. So most likely if you run reconciliation, the software installs will have the Software model result field populated.

As you see in the column for Discovery model, this is the Software discovery model that the software installs are tied to. As you see in the diagram below, the Software discovery model and software model are linked based on the Discovery map data.

Hi @andynewey @mhedtke1 ,

this answer I got in one of my cases with SN support about this:

Cause:
The Discovery model's "Software Model" field has been deprecated.

Refer point (6) on
KB0862977 - FAQ: Software Model field in the Software Discovery Model Table not populating

Our development team is aware that the references to the deprecated field should be removed, but we have no ETA from our support team on that clean up.
Please continue to refer to "Show matching Discovery models" link.

6. How to check which software discovery models are related to specific software model

The Discovery model's "Software Model" field has been deprecated.

  1. Go to the "Software Model" User Interface (UI)
  2. Choose a software model
  3. Click the link that says "Show matching Discovery models" in the form.
  4. This will display the Discovery models that are appropriate for the chosen software model.

Best, Dennis

My case is still open but it looks like this happens when there is no licence allocated to that installation.  In my case this software has a 'Per User' metric and the installations where the software model is missing is where the allocated user does not have a licecence allocated to it.
