ServiceNow Software Asset Management Professional (SAM Pro) relies on Discovery Maps (DMAPs) to link discovered software installations to normalized software models. These mappings are essential for accurate license reconciliation, compliance tracking, and optimization.
However, several software models have been generated by the system without any associated DMAPs, which may impact data accuracy and compliance reporting. Could someone help clarify why this might be happening, and point me toward resources or guidance to better understand how and why these models were created this way?

@FreinetE Discovery maps are associated to software models only if a discovery map exists for that software model. If a corresponding discovery map doesn't exist in the Content Service library, a software model still gets created without a discovery map.

Hi @FreinetE Avoid enabling Automatically create software models for all licensable products., as it can generate a large number of models that may be difficult to manage initially. The recommended approach is to create Software Entitlement records using the PPN. When the PPN is entered, the system automatically looks up the corresponding Software Model from the Content Library and links it to your entitlement. To ensure accuracy, use the Discovery Map values defined on the Software Model to confirm that all authorized versions covered by your entitlement are included. Following this approach will help maintain clean and consistent data alignment.

Abhishek

This is happening due to content library updation, Please create a content case to update the ServiceNow content library updation frequently.
