Where to store objects like remote Applications and App Groups (e.g. for Azure VDI)?

Hi All,
not really sure if this is the most fitting forum but here goes. I have some requirements to enable teams managing virtual desktop images, to create Application Groups and relate specific remote Applications that would be available in those groups.
One use case is for Azure VM/VDI, but there's at least one other similar case for "software packages" installed on personal laptops, to also mange the apps and the packages they go into.
Originally the teams intended to have custom CI classes both for the groups/packages and the list of apps, but I think this does not necessarily constitute being a CI.
On one hand - there is OOTB "Desktop Software" class in the CMDB under Software, which kind of reflects the type of software mentioned here. On the other hand - we also have the Software Product Models, which potentially could be put inside bundles or suites, but not sure if the above scenario would be the typical use of this.
So I'm looking for good suggestions how above objects can be incorporated into SN, possibly without unnecessary customizations. Maybe there is indeed an existing OOTB object that fits this purpose best.
Many thanks for any suggestions,
Tom
