I am aware of the 'Reapply Remediation Task Rule' option from a remediation task rule, however the fact that this deletes all VUL's that are open and then recreates new ones is not an ideal solution.
I created a new assignment rule, and also changed the CI Owner on some CIs. The VIT's are updated as they should be. Is there any way to get the VUL's to update as well? Has anyone found a good solution for this?

If not using the reapply, is there a way to bulk split VIT's from VUL's? For example, run something that says - show me all the VUL's that have a VIT that matches specific criteria. Now take all of those VITs that match the criteria and split them from the VUL's that they are currently in and create a new VUL with them in it.

sdescoteaux,
I and my team have been having these same issues and trying to see what we can do. I hope somebody else out there might have a solution - but I am not holding my breath as the last time I asked anything similar, I got a response of why it wasn't OK to me where there would just be multiple VULs for some given VITs - totally missing my concerns as you have also described here. In my case of trying to find a way to "bulk edit" and change all the database tables with referential integrity, I keep running up against the logic of how to find the MANY different specific criteria that might be needed to shuffle through and make all the moves, edits, deletes, etc. that it would take to realign. We have millions of VITs, tens of thousands of VULs, thousands of groups any one of which can have untold numbers of VIT/VUL reassignments needed to split or add VITs to VULs. I have not come up with any scripted logic way to accomplish that - and i agree with you, deleting all and rebuild from the Remediation Task Rules is a TERRIBLE solution.
Thanks for posting this,
Joe

LOL - yes! Apologies to get your hope up by responding. Bonkers is a mild term for how this is driving us crazy here.
