reassign Vulnerable item to another assignment group?

Hi,

I wonder what happens if a vulnerable items were automatically assigned to the wrong assignment group during import?

What type of functionality should be implemented or configured when a Vulnerable item needs to be reassigned to another assignment group?

That is a different question altogether. 🙂

It depends on your organization. I have seen a few different approaches.

1. Place a button on the form to re assigns it to a central team.

2. Limit the groups that they can reassign it to (Lots of different ways)

3. Just let the remediation owner reassign the item.

In any event, you need to add a "reassignment count" field to the items to see how often this is happening. (Model it off of the one on the Incident table)

Best practices:

  • Track the number of reassignments
  • Understand why they are being reassigned and adjust your rules according
  • Make sure the teams know that the reassignments are being tracked
    • Reduces gaming the system
    • Builds confidence in the system if you are proactively reviewing reassignments for process improvement

Do you mean fix the Assignment Rules and reapply them or have someone manually reassign it?

I would like to give the possibility to manually reassign Vulnerable item to the correct assignment group.

Scenario: 400 Vulnerable items have been assigned to the wrong assignment groups. What should I do as an administrator to allow the user to correct this?

Hi,

The Remediation Owner role has the ability to change the Assignment  Group on VI assigned to them. OOB anyone with the ITIL role gets the Remediation Owner role.

If you want someone other than who it is assigned to they need the Analysts role.

Does that answer your question?

not exactly, probably I did not give all details, sorry for that

The idea is: how to do it, how to fix it, not who can be able to do it

I can create a related link/button and allow the user to change to a new assignment group.

My question is: is this a good approach when Vulnerable items needs to be reassigned to different assignment group? Or there is another way to do that.
