How to add UI macro icon on Service Catalog variable of reference type?

Hi,

I need to add a UI macro on catalog variable (Reference).

UI macro works fine for Caller field on Incident form with the help of ref_contributions attributes in dictionary entry.

Same does not work for Service Catalog variables as the ref_contributions attribute is not available as per the docs.

Any suggestion to achieve this?

Article is based on Macro variable and widgets for Service Portal.

I need to just add UI macro next to reference variable (Service Catalog variable).

I am not really sure if I need to create a Macro catalog variable and if that can be linked to the reference variable.
