In my instance (Xanadu, but it's been this way for years), all reference fields have the 'eye' icon next to it. This opens the reference in a modal window with a limited view (no related lists)
In my PDI, there's an "i" icon, with slighly different functionality. It opens the reference in an inline pop-up, with an "Open Record" button to open it in full view.
I can't seem to find what setting would set the "eye" vs the "i".
The docs show details on how to modify the view, but not how to change the buttons.
https://www.servicenow.com/docs/bundle/yokohama-platform-administration/page/administer/field-admini...
It talks about setting 'glide.ui.reference.readonly.clickthrough' to 'true', but it is already 'true' in my instance and toggling it does not change the behavior.
Anyone have a clue?

Found it, it's the setting "glide.ui.clickthrough.popup", set to false to restore the "i".
