Service and Service Offerings

Hi all,

We are gathering requirements to implement service requests and we are also tracking the related service and service offerings data.

Which fields are mandatory or highly recommended to be filled in for service and s. offering? E.g.

  -Service: name, description

  -Service offering: name, description, business criticality, group

Can you please confirm the point below?

- Service and Service Offerings are usually imported massively using Service Map but they can be created singularly one by one in the proper tables (cmdb_ci_service_list and service_offering) using "Create" button

There's any other information that we should ask regarding service and s. offering to properly configure them and the related service requests?

You can consider the below fields for service and service offerings..

Mandatory fields for service - Name, Service Classification, Owner, Business Criticality, Operational Status, Support Group.

Mandatory fields for service Offering - Name, Parent, Business Criticality, Support Group, Operational Status

Service Mapping primarily maps CIs to services; it does not automatically mass-create structured Service + Offering hierarchies in a standard setup.

Business Services and Service Offerings are always defined manually  or imported via Excel/Data Sources.

Out-of-the-box, ServiceNow only makes Name mandatory.

If it is still in the very initial phase for the customer or to implement CSDM, start with just the Name. When the process matures and the data becomes consistent, you can add the additional fields mentioned by @sivasankaris
