I am planning to upgrade my instances to Tokyo, starting with Dev.
Do I need to back up anything in particular prior to upgrade? Can I leave my update sets in "In Progress"? Will any of my installed apps, current development, be removed/erased after upgrading?

As long as you aren't cloning down from another environment, the upgrade will not impact your open update sets.

Hello Mike,
I am in the middle of development in Dev so I don't plan to clone Dev from Prod since I don't want to lose my work. Is this an issue? Is it recommended to clone Dev even though I am in the middle of a project that I am working on?

Ideally there is a dev freeze when doing upgrades so work is not impacted. If this is unavoidable you can complete the update sets, export them and then do the clone/upgrade. After this is done you can re-import the work and create a new update set to finish the rest of your work.

Hello Elijah,
Are you suggesting that I export all my previously completed update sets for this project, close the remaining update sets for the project, export them all (all 96 update sets), clone, upgrade, then reimport all 96 update sets?
