AI Search, available on the Now Platform®, is built on a self-learning system with machine learning (ML)-based relevancy, delivering optimized results that users can act on right away.
Features such as genius results, machine learning based relevancy, advanced linguistics, and advanced administrative controls and reporting will allow ServiceNow customers to build consumer grade search experiences in Service Portal, Now Mobile, and Virtual Agent.
AI Search introduces an architecture change and requires provisioning new hardware for every customer in ServiceNow datacenters.
Starting Quebec Patch 5, customers can self-request AI Search directly in the ServiceNow instance without needing to create a Service Request case!
Once your ServiceNow instance is on Quebec Patch 5 or beyond, you can follow below steps to self-request provisioning of AI Search for your instance:
- Navigate to "AI Search > AI Search Status".
- Verify that the status indicator reports "AI Search is not enabled". Note: If the status indicator reports "AI Search is requested", "AI Search is enabled", or "AI Search is ready", you do not need to request provisioning
- Click "Request AI Search". A "Successfully requested AI Search" message appears, and the status indicator reports "AI Search is requested".
- Once AI Search is successfully provisioned on the instance, an automatic setup is kicked off in the backend to initialize AI Search with out-of-the-box configuration.
- Check back to the "AI Search Status" page regularly and once automatic setup is completed, it will say "AI Search is ready.".
Now, enjoy using AI Search!

Hi Mavis,
Any idea how long it takes to activate AI, we tried this in a sub-prod instance this morning and that instance has been at the "AI Search is Requested" for over 5 hours already?

Hello there,
After requesting provisioning, in most cases, the provisioning process will be complete in a few hours. In some cases provisioning may take longer. If AI Search does not become available for your instance within 1-2 business days, please open a case or contact customer support. Details can be reviewed in this KB article: https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0867751
