Create a Metric Definition Based on RITM Variable?

Matthew Glenn

I can't find much on this, but I'm wondering if it's at all possible to create a metric definition based on a specific variable.

Initially, I would say "no", but looking at the metric definition form, I see the below, which makes me wonder if this is possible, or just an oversight by ServiceNow.

I know I have the option to create a custom column and have the variable update it, at which point I could define a metric, but I'd like to avoid that extra column if at all possible.

Anyone dealt with this before?

You may be able to accomplish this.  Create a report using the sc_req_item_metric view (I believe it's OOB).  When searching for the variable field to report on, dot walk:  Universal Request-->Questions-->Item

I did find, not all Catalog Items appear there so is the possibilty your catalog item variables are not there
