Hello there,
I've been doing some testing in preparation for explicit roles, and I've installed the Explicit Roles plug-in in one of my sub-prod instances. In another sub-prod, I've installed CSM. The behaviour I'm seeing is that with just the plug-in, snc_internal is not auto-assigned, whereas it is when installed as part of CSM.
Is this expected? The information on the plug-in itself says that all existing users will be assigned the role when the plugin is installed, but that doesn't seem to be what happens if the plug-in is installed standalone.
I'm basically checking to see if I should expect issues with adding the plug-in standalone, and then adding the role to everyone separately, or if it's fine and just one of those documentation things :-). We aren't quite ready to put CSM in Production but there are items we are prepared to start building out that will require the internal/external roles, and want to have the platform prepped for that and not be dependent on CSM.
Thanks for any experience you have!
Kristin

Hi
basically, there shouldn't be a difference. Also, when using the explicit roles plugin all existing users should be auto-assigned.
You could raise a Support ticket to clarify that.
Kind regards
Maik

Thank you for the reply and info. I did raise a ticket with support because the roles were not auto-assigned. It turns out that through a strange circumstance of timing, the instance was scheduled to be provisioned with the plug-in, but was also being cloned over from an instance that did not have the plugin. Result was that the instance reported having the plugin activated (via support) but the actual instance did not have it.
That plugin is restricted from admin, so I couldn't see it in the store to install it even though I had access to it!
Weird, but all resolved now as the SN support analyst could access the plugin and install it. Once that happened, roles were assigned automatically as expected.

Thank you for the reply, Monika. This is good to know that anyone who hadn't been logged on will be assigned the role automatically if external wasn't assigned first.
