Flow designer data pill greyed out before wait action

Hello All:

I am trying to capture the error from a custom flow action in a subflow input used in the Error Flow section of the main flow. The issue I have found is that because the custom action occurs prior to a Wait action I am not able to use the data pills from that action, and I cannot move the action after the wait condition. Has anyone found a workaround for this?

Below are some screenshots.

First one shows the "Send File to Windows" action from which I am trying to capture the error.

The next shows the data pills associated with the above action; you will notice that they are greyed out. BTW they get greyed out when I expand the Error Flow section of the flow.

The last screenshot shows the subflow I am using to create an incident when there is an error in the flow.
