How easy or difficult is it to set up E-signature for other tasks than HR tasks

Hi SNow Superstars,

We have a requirement to integrate E-signature of documents into a workflow. But's not an HR case workflow. 

From the docs looks like E-signature is a platform capability but there is very little guidance on how to set up E-signature in task types other than HR tasks: https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/orlando-servicenow-platform/page/product/human-resources/concept/...

Is it even possible?

Can E-signature be requested via change task or catalog task, if needed? How would you go about setting it up?

My issue is not so much with E-signature templates (all clear in this department) as with triggering E-signature requests via tasks other than HR tasks. It's not well-documented how to get there.

Hello Michal,

So, I got the basics of the E-signature application down. What I did is set the "State" to Work in Progress and the "assigned to" field has to be filled in Task, I think you can do it for any table that extends Task as well. Whatever user is in the "Assigned to" field will be able to see a button on the header of the task. The button will say "sign document". You will also have to select a "e-signature template" and an "e-signature document" in the Task form.

Hopefully this helps for any future requirements.

You can enable signature for approvals in change requests.

Hello Michal,

Have you had any luck with a resolution? I created a template and I am trying to run the e-signature function off of the dms_document table, but it is not working like the example in the ServiceNow doumentation for HR Tasks? I don't know if I am missing something?

No progress in this area on my side. The client dropped the requirement and I stopped exploring the topic at least for now.
