Is there current roadmap to upgrade the platform to ES6, or 7?   I know Helsinki upgraded it to ES5.

Dear servicenow.... do you give a single thought about your dev community ? perhaps it would be time to share a roadmap with reasonable schedule on when we get to enjoy the already ancient es6..... can you for gods sake at least comment on this because that is not what we pay for....

Thanks for your comment. There is a group working on the entire scripting experience - broader than just the path to ES6/7/2001/whatever... We'll share as soon as we can. Right now the research is still ongoing. Thank you to everyone who has participated in providing insight and opinions on how we can make the entire scripting experience better.

Yes we need some updates. We need ES6 not only for client script but also for include scripts.

Unfortunately they are too invested in repackaging Workflow Editor as Flow Designer and catering to non-developers to show any interest in updating the core language that their target audience won't ever concern themselves with.

Saltiness aside, I do wish there was some progress on this issue.. The article mentioned previously (as well as numerous others available online) demonstrate that a working version of ES6 can be achieved without requiring a huge amount of effort nor resources. ES5 is a 2009 syntax version and ServiceNow should easily have the resources needed to attempt some sort of update (even if it's a beta version/release). I completely understand how jumping from ES5 to ES10 would be out of the question, but that's not the current expectation.

I am a Product Manager at ServiceNow responsible for areas of our server-side Scripting experience.  I wanted to let you all know an additional JavaScript Mode for Scoped Applications is planned for the Tokyo release.  We are targeting features from ES6 up to ES12 (ECMAScript 2021).  We will have more to announce as the internal engineering is completed and documentation is finalized.  Thank you all for your patience over the years and we look forward to getting your feedback once this is released.
