Relation between Install Status, Operational Status and Hardware Status in CMDB_CI table.

Hello,
I am trying to understand who the following fields are updated in ServiceNow:
- Install Status
- Operational Status
- Hardware status
My questions:
1. How are these fields updated(Discovery, integrations, manual, etc.)?
2.Is there any default dependency between them?
For example, If Operational status changes to "Operational", will Installed status automatically change to "Installed" and Hardware status change to "Installed"?
3. How the " Instock "will get updated for install status and Hardware status.
From my understanding, these fields seem independent unless enforced through Business Rules or Data Manager Policies. Please correct me if I'm missing something.
