System Settings: Homepage / Dashboard

Hello all,

in ServiceNow settings there is an option to choose between homepage & dashboard.

What is the exact difference here?
What are the advantages and disadvantages for this?

In Platform UI/ Native UI for the homepage, you can choose Homepage/ Dashboards for your instance. This option was available before the San Diego release.
