My library Knowledge Sources To Go is very popular, but it was intended mainly as a thematically grouped guide to standard sources and was provided by me as a PDF file. For certain topics, however, there is so much content that I can no longer include it in that document, as it cannot continue to grow forever.
For this reason, I have decided to handle such topics in individual community articles like this one instead.
What is the ServiceNow IDE?
The ServiceNow Integrated Development Environment (IDE) is a powerful tool for developers working on the ServiceNow platform. Introduced in the Xanadu release, it offers a comprehensive suite of features to streamline application development and enhance productivity. The IDE integrates directly with Visual Studio Code, allowing developers to work within their ServiceNow instance while leveraging familiar coding tools. It supports source-code-driven development, includes the ServiceNow Fluent Domain-Specific Language (DSL) for easier application file declaration, and provides robust Git integration for improved collaboration. The IDE offers intelligent code suggestions, powerful intellisense capabilities, and the ability to work offline and synchronize changes when back online. With features like automatic code completion, validation, formatting, and access to ServiceNow Glide libraries, the IDE significantly enhances the development experience, making it a valuable asset for both seasoned ServiceNow developers and those new to the platform.
