Can someone please help me?

Hello all,

I am someone who is pretty new to what ServiceNow is and what kind of opportunities it has to offer.

I want to pursue getting the CSA certification along with other certs that are needed to become a junior systems admin or even junior business analyst. My problem is that I'm trying to secure a job that lets me work remote and is Mon-Fri.

I've had a really hard time trying to find remote, entry level jobs for the path that I'm looking to take and I'm not sure if I'm just not looking in the right places or what I'm missing. All in all I just want to make sure that I'm not wasting my time getting the CSA cert and pursuing other certifications because I'm not able to see the jobs I WOULD apply for after obtaining the certs.

thank you in advance to anyone who's willing to take time to help me figure out my future.

Hi @SH101 ,

It’s great that you’re thinking ahead before investing time and money into certifications.

1. Is CSA Worth It?
Yes — the CSA (Certified System Administrator) is the foundational certification in ServiceNow. Most entry-level admin or junior roles list CSA as either required or preferred. It’s not a waste of time, but it’s usually the starting point, not the final step.

2. Why Remote Entry-Level Roles Are Hard to Find
Fully remote + entry-level + ServiceNow is a competitive combination. Many companies prefer some hands-on experience (even 6–12 months) before offering remote flexibility. It’s not impossible — just limited.

3. What Might Help You Stand Out
Instead of only focusing on certifications:

  • Practice in a Personal Developer Instance (PDI)

  • Build small use cases (Incident flows, catalog items, reports)

  • Learn basic ITSM processes

  • Get familiar with real-world scenarios
Experience (even self-built) matters more than multiple certs.

4. Job Search Strategy
Look for:

  • “ServiceNow Administrator – Junior”

  • “ServiceNow Analyst”

  • “ITSM Analyst”

  • “ServiceNow Support”
Also consider hybrid roles first — they’re often easier to enter.

5. Final Advice
CSA is valuable, but combine it with hands-on practice and practical understanding. Don’t rely on certifications alone. Focus on skills + small projects + networking in the ServiceNow community.

You’re not wasting your time — just make sure you build practical experience alongside certification.

Hope this helps, and best of luck on your journey!
