Global biopharmaceutical leader Takeda has been recognized as a ServiceNow AI Pacesetter for its innovative use of AI to accelerate workflows across the enterprise.
The starting point of Takeda’s AI journey was defining the right use cases. By mapping AI to specific business capabilities, the platform team was able to present a clear case to the executive— showing how AI could support strategic priorities like employee experience and patient trust and safety.
Takeda also invested early in enterprise-wide AI training. Together with ServiceNow, they delivered hands-on workshops for teams to build with confidence and embed AI into their daily workflows.
Governance is a key factor in the company’s AI success. Every use case is reviewed by an Enterprise Architecture Council, and requires approval by legal, privacy, compliance, and quality teams before entering production.
Takeda’s tips for others starting out? Identify use cases. Be clear on the difference between automation and AI. Test rigorously before rolling out. And finally, allow plenty of time for training.
During Knowledge 2026, we sat down with Surja Chowdhury, Enterprise AI Platform Owner, to hear more about how Takeda is using AI to deliver better patient outcomes.
