Hi all,
I am working on an Equipment Management use case and could use some guidance on AI Lens.
Setup: our Equipment records have a large number of supporting documents stored as attachments, originally pulled in from SharePoint, that contain the equipment registration number printed or typed somewhere in the document. I have configured AI Lens with form inputs so it can populate the Registration Number field automatically.
Problem: AI Lens works fine when I capture or scan a document live at the point of entry, but it does not seem to read or extract the registration number string from documents that already exist as attachments on the record. In other words, live capture populates the field correctly, but pointing AI Lens at an already-uploaded attachment does not extract the string.
Questions:
Is reading data out of an existing, already-stored attachment within the scope of what AI Lens is built for, or is it strictly designed for live capture and camera/screenshot scenarios only?
If AI Lens is not meant for this, is Document Intelligence the correct tool instead for extracting a specific field like a registration number from a batch of existing PDFs or images?
Has anyone successfully combined the two, using AI Lens for live capture and Document Intelligence for existing attachment backfill, on the same field?
Any guidance, sample configuration, or documentation pointers would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
