[Question] Japanese Characters Corrupted in REST Communication (After Applying Xanadu Patch 7)

Hello everyone,
We're currently experiencing an issue with REST communication(GET) in the following setup:

ServiceNow instance ⇒ MID ServerExternal System

In this configuration, Japanese characters are being corrupted (garbled) when transmitted to the external system.

■ Environment Info

  • Build name: Xanadu

  • Build tag: glide-xanadu-07-02-2024__patch7-02-27-2025

  • Version: Xanadu Patch 7 (applied)

■ Issue Details

Before applying Xanadu Patch 7, there were no issues with Japanese characters being sent via REST API through the MID Server.
However, after applying this patch, we started seeing garbled Japanese characters in the transmitted data.

At this point, it seems that Japanese text sent via the MID Server to the external system is no longer properly encoded or decoded, leading to corrupted output on the receiving side.

■ Request for Advice

  • Has anyone experienced a similar issue with REST communications or character encoding after applying Xanadu Patch 7?

  • Are there any known changes related to character encoding or MID Server behavior introduced in this patch?

  • Any advice or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Hi.
I reached out to support about a similar issue. It probably falls under the following.
ECCSender does not use correct charset when reading XML queue files
