It sounds like it should be easy – identify and deliver the work that best aligns with your organizational strategy. But, in reality, it’s anything but easy for most organizations. Whether it’s disconnects introduced when determining where to commit funding, issues with the execution of the work that fails to optimize the ability to deliver, or an inability to validate benefits, there are numerous roadblocks to success.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. While the problems are common, the reasons behind those problems are fairly easy to address, and in an upcoming webinar we’re going to help you identify and implement those solutions. You can register for the event here, which is scheduled for June 7th. Success depends on just three key elements, implemented well and managed effectively.
You’ll have to sign up for the webinar to learn all three, but here we’re going to give you a sneak peek into one of them – alignment. In a recent study, Gallup found that just 22% of employees feel that their leaders have a clear direction, and only 13% of US employees strongly agree that leadership communicate effectively with the rest of the organization.
That’s a real problem that has to be addressed. If the entire organization isn’t aligned with the strategies that leadership are trying to deliver, then it’s not surprising that the execution piece – where most of those employees focus their efforts, isn’t delivering the best outcomes.
Organizations need effective planning and communication tools – integrated roadmaps that can be shared across all stakeholder groups and can quickly convey what is being done, and how it benefits the organization. When those roadmaps are tied directly to the work the connection is not only there for everyone to see, but the roadmaps evolve and adapt as work is delivered or adjusted – ensuring everyone has the most up to date perspective on both strategy and execution.
Overlay those roadmaps with clear Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to help everyone understand the targets that need to be achieved, and then provide visibility into the status of work, any variances that have occurred, emerging opportunities and threats and so on, and now all employees don’t just see the connection between delivery and strategy, they understand it, and their role in contributing to it.
Add in the final piece of alignment – the flexibility for teams to work using all available delivery methods – traditional, Agile and hybrid, and to evolve and adapt continuously with minimal disruption, and you have an organization that is fully aligned from top to bottom. You have an organization that can consistently deliver on one of the three key elements of aligning strategy with execution.
And after attending the webinar, you’ll also be able to deliver an organization that can achieve the other three elements. We’ll see you there!
