There is an interesting challenge with the creation of a Planning Calendar from within the Strategic Planning Workspace that could use some attention being called to them. From the Docs Page, the required role to create a new Planning Calendar is admin, which is particularly challenging. Namely, that need to request a user with 'admin' role to create a new Planning Calendar is inconvenient and would likely garner confusion from the parties being requested.

After some under-the-hood investigation, I noticed that the sn_apw_advanced_eap_calendar table is extended from business_calendar and there aren't any other specific ACL rules to allow anyone outside of Admin to create new calendars for the Planning Calendar extended table.

Here is a screenshot from the Strategic Planning Workspace with a user who has both sn_apw_advanced.eap_admin and sn_align_core.apw_admin. The "Planning Calendar" option is missing here.

It seems logical that the ability for a user with either "sn_align_core.apw_admin" or " sn_apw_advanced.eap_admin" should have the ability to create a new Planning Calendar., however currently this is not the Case.

I fully expect this functionality to be updated in near future, but for all of those scratching their heads like me on this one, I hope this post helps you feel a bit less crazy.

Hey Adam,

This is something that the team is looking at and targeting for the end of 2025.

Thanks,

Scott

Just a quick update, but this is being updated in the December store release (so users will no longer need to be a ServiceNow admin to administer EAP calendars).
