Hello, I am a new user of the ServiceNow platform. We have created epics and user stories without demands. We do have the demand features of the system installed and do use demands in our process but not to the fullest effectiveness. We want to change that.
Is it possible to link stories and epics to a demand created after the fact?

Hi @Woodchuck ,
Hope you are doing well.
I would suggest you to use out of the box functionality. There can be two scenarios:
1. After demand is qualified, it can be continued in waterfall as well as Agile or SAFe methodology and the answer is yes. You can create an epic, story, SAFe epic / SAFe feature / SAFe story from the qualified demands. Refer below screenshot.
2) Second scenario could be (as you have mentioned) - already epics and user stories exist and you also use demands.
Now one possibility could be that you would like to link the existing demands with existing user stories and epics - If this is the case, then I would recommend you to follow the below steps:
A) Create project from the demand.
B) Make that project execution type as Agile or Hybrid (depending the nature of the project)
C) Add your user stories to this project (using the Stories related list of the project)
D) On adding the user stories to the project, the epics (associated with the added user stories) will automatically start showing up in the epics related list of that project.
Hope this helps, if it does, please mark this answer as correct response.
Have a Great Day!

Is the only way to have the demand close out this way to close it manually? I see if we don't go the route of project then the demand does not close out when the associated story(ies) or epic(s) are completed.

Yes, I would also recommend using the existing functionality to create the required Agile objects with the Standard OOTB functionality, for the existing Demands and EPICs/Stories, you can add the related list on the EPICs/Stories to link the demands. Remember this will create a one-to-many scenario , meaning multiple demands can result into an EPIC/Story.

it does, please mark this answer as correct response.
