Category and Type fields in Demand are sometimes read-only?

According to the documentation here: "The Category and Type fields become read-only when a work entity is created from a demand. If the created work entity is deleted, these fields become editable."

I have created a bunch of demands to test and some have these fields as read-only as early as in the draft and submitted state. I don't understand what is meant in the documentation, nor can I find UI policies or Business Rules changing the read-only behaviour of these fields.

Anyone has a hint?

Thanks, Peter

1)  Is it a prod instance, or a Private Dev Instance?

2)  Have you created any downstream records?  A project, enhancement or defect using any of the UI links at the bottom?

Hi Robert, 1) this test is done on a private Dev instance as part of a proof of concept. 2) the example screenshot shows a freshly created demand, no project, defect or enhancement created using any of UI links at the bottom. Interestingly enough some older test demands don’t show the fields as read only and I have tried to find a correlation, but nothing makes sense. Hence the question for a hint.

Hi,

A demand gets converted to either Project, Enhancement or Change request based on nature of request, to execute/implement the request.

When a demand gets converted to any of the these operational entities then the Category & Type of the demand record gets into read-only mode.

So once demand gets submitted and converted to any of the operational entities then these fields get read-only.

Hi Yogesh, I am observing the fields are read only right after the demand has been drafted. So nothing yet has happened to the demand. See the screenshot above.
