Change Planned Start Date after Project has been started

Hi Everyone,
We have a need to be able to change the Planned Start Date for a project and the tasks beneath it after the project has been started. I read on other threads that they key may be setting the property "Enable altering of planned date(s) for task in WIP/Closed" but we have that setting enabled in our test environment and are still receiving errors when trying to move the original planned start date into the past.
Is there another setting needed in conjunction with the "Enable altering of planned date(s) for task in WIP/Closed" setting? Has anyone figured out a work around?
Right now we are considering adding a second set of variables that will allow unrestricted start dates and end dates to be set on project tasks and projects, but I really don't want to do that as it is pretty confusing to have three sets of dates on any given task.

I don't have an answer to your question.
But i have experience to share concerning duplicating fields to avoid the constraint put on the Out of the Box one, and to be honest, this is a bad idea.
Not only your people will be confused, but you will miss some of the feature of the product because those feature will be based on the OoB fields and not based on your custom one.
So if you don't get an answer here, i would advise to raise a hi ticket to have this resolved/answered before going that ugly road 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I totally agree. I have been down that road before as well and I'm really hoping for an alternative solution.
The concern with the ticket is how quickly it would be addressed. I need to figure out a work around to put in place now if we were to wait for an integrated solution.
