Clarification on Role Assignment in ServiceNow: ITSM vs. SPM

Hi All,

I’m seeking clarification regarding role assignments within ServiceNow, We have shared some roles that related to Agile roles, but we are unsure whether these roles will be consumed from ITSM (IT Service Management) or SPM (Strategic Portfolio Management).

Additionally, I would like to understand the implications of assigning both ITSM and SPM roles to the same user. How does the system behave in this scenario? Are there any conflicts or specific considerations we should be aware of?

This is quite a client specific question - you need to liaise with the internal team who negotiated the contract and clairified which licences are available to you and if you still wish to get more clarifications, the ServiceNow Account Manager (SN contact person) should be able to assist with that.

Attached is the roles under your SPM Standard Licenses and what is the role type for each role.

Also, to answer your second question, if you assign ITSM and SPM roles to the same user, they will be counted as different licenses since they are under different subscriptions. ITIL will be usually the fullfiller role for ITSM but it_project_manager will be fullfiller role in SPM.

You should again confirm this with your account manager since ServiceNow has different licensing agreements with different companies.
