Create new Agile group or add Agile to the Assignment group Type?

Trying to understand if its best practice to create a new Agile Group for users or if by adding "Agile Team" to their existing assignment group that is the same thing.

What is the purpose of each?  Does one grant more access than the other?

Not following the logic.

Thanks.

Hi Brenda,

The type typically is only used for filtering and shouldnt be used to manage accesses. However, if memory serves, a lot of functionality in Agile Development looks if the assignment group does have the "Agile team" type so regardless if you create a new group or use an existing group for working with Agile Development you will have to assign the type to the group. If you are using an existing group however, make sure not to forget to assign the appropriate agile roles to the group so that they have the necessary accesses.

The main advantage of having a specific group for working with agile development is that you can have additional people that shouldn't have the same accesses as the pre-existing group. It could be that you add stakeholders to the group to allow them to have access and review stories in the story board or project managers that are not part of the group.

Hope this helps. 🙂

Thanks Jimmie.  It was a bit confusing seeing "Group" under the Agile menu and not following how it is different than assigning Agile Team to an existing group.  The example you provided makes sense.
