Fiscal Periods vs. Calendar for Resource/Operational Plans

Hello,

Anyone can help with Fiscal Period vs. Calendar alignment for Resource and Operational Plans?

In our SPM/PPM implementaton, we use a 4-4-5 fiscal calendar, aligned with our corporate financial practices.

Resource Managers allocate resources based on a monthly calendar view, and that allocation is automatically distributed by the system across weeks and days of the plans. Resource Manager visibility is on the calendar month, and the 1st and last day of each month. Project Managers consider the actual allocations, but more than that they consider the costs per fiscal period, for which the start date is the first friday of each month.

Many times this causes Projects Managers to see costs in periods where they were not expecting them.

For example, allocations done for the first days of a calendar month will fall under the previous fiscal period.

Anyone knows if it is possible to align the Resource/Operational Plan breakdowns with Cost Plan breakdowns, so that resource management considers the fiscal period start/end dates as the limits instead of the real month?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @rleandro ,
If I understand the problem statement correctly, the views in monthly and fiscal do not match and so what you are viewing in resource management does not  roll up to the dollar amounts in financials.
We do not have this functionality in resource management.
However, please try this approach and let us know if it works for you.
Step1: Since your week starts on Fridays, use this property to start week in resource management on Fridays:
First Day of Week (Monday = 1, Sunday = 7) (com.snc.resource_management.first_day_of_week)
Set the value of the above to 5 to start the week on Fridays.
Step 2: In the allocation workbench or resource management workspace set the date to your quarters based on the 4-4-5 fiscal period.
Example: To view by Q1, Set the dates to start from 03 Jan, 2025 to 03 Apr, 2025.

Once you have done this, view by weekly to get a view by your fiscal period.
Please let us know, if this works for you.
