When setting up capacity planning in the PPW/SPW, I see you have to generate capacity manually for each combination of planning attribute (like group/role, group/role/skill). This seems tedious to have to do every time. Is there a way that resource capacity can be generated automatically, particularly after some event that changes a user or group's capacity?
Edit:
Ok, I just realized something today and ServiceNow needs to make sure to be clear on this since using the term "capacity" for both things is confusing.
Capacity for individuals is still the same - it's still updated by the out of the box scheduled job. Capacity for capacity planning (in the SPW) - at the group/role level - THAT has to be generated manually in the SPW for the group/role/skill you want to see. That makes more sense.
I can setup resource groups, run that out of the box jobs, and then go use the new Resource Management Workspace just fine. Because the RMW is individual-level resource management, you cannot manage group/role level information in the RMW.
If you want to manage capacity at the group/role/skill level, then you need to do it in Capacity Planning. You could try to manage at the group/role/skill level with the out of the box resource reporting, but that doesn't always play nicely with the new resource assignment system (example: if I create an unnamed group resource assignment, the availability for that group will be decremented in Capacity Planning, but not in resource reports. Once the resource is named, resource reports will reflect the changes to the group/role/skill's availability).
This had been confusing because in the old resource management system, there was no differentiation between resource management and capacity planning. It was all one thing and you used the same reporting tool to manage both. Now there's a difference and different tools for it - capacity planning for management at the group/role/skill level, and resource management (and the RMW) for individual-level resource management.
Solved! Go to Solution.

@Louis Savalli This is something planned soon in our upcoming releases. I don't have concrete timelines however, it should be available OOTB soon.

Hi @Boris Livertovs ,
I should have mentioned that the job - Update Resource Capacity' - is to update the capacity for the tables as you mentioned above.
For your use case, it is in the backlog and planned for this year though it is a backlog item so no confirmation on the release date.
@Louis Savalli , We understand the pain point and it is in the plan.
Have a Great Week Ahead !
Thank You!

@Namita Mishra is there an update on the status of this item in the backlog?
