Hi All,

We have a requirement to disable "Sub Project" option from New Project Workspace. Can we do that?

Thanks,
Shubham

Hey Shubham,

FAIR WARNING I am not entirely sure of the full scope of impact by making this decision, I just enjoy working through questions and finding answers. With that being said, it looks like you CAN but I do not know if you SHOULD...

Assuming you want to remove the button that acts as a filter, in Now Experience Framework -> UI Builder, under My Experiences is the Project Workspace entry. From there, it looks like you can edit content for the body, click on the Sub Project button, click the vertical ellipses and click delete:

find_real_file.png

This removes the button altogether.
find_real_file.png

Admittedly, I went back to see if Disable was an option after testing deletion in my PDI, and it is under "Configure component", so you could just disable it on the right:
find_real_file.png

and it would look like this:
find_real_file.png
(except obviously the "Sub Projects" button would still be there, just grayed out like the above "Projects" button is for example purposes).

Good luck!

edit: So, before I submitted this, I wanted to ensure that I could still find the one Sub Project that was in the PDI demo data after this change. I'm not sure that I can, because if I go to Project -> Projects -> All and find the only one with a parent, it doesn't show up in the Project Workspace under All Projects. It looks like the "Projects" button isn't an "all projects" filter, but a "projects with no parent" filter. I really screwed up my instance, so I am going to refresh it and try again to confirm, but if it does act like this, the only way your client will be able to see projects with a parent will be in the Projects table.

The new project workspace (NPW) is based on new web platform. Please explore editing workspace in UI Builder to do any changes, such as remove the Sub Project Button from NPW.

Please note that any such changes may impact OOB functionalities.

Hi Tyler,

Thanks for the explanation and detailed overview of it. It really helped me to solve the issue by disabling the Sub Project button rather than removing it completely. We have limited projects to be created as a Sub Project. So there wont be any issues with the filters I believe.

Thanks again for helping me out and apologies for coming late for the update.

Shubham

Hi Tyler,

Any Idea how are the versions being maintained for it. Suppose we apply changes and later ServiceNow bring another updates how can we merge them?

Thanks,
Shubham
